Retreat Centers

Retreat centers are springing up all over the country. From tiny cabins in the woods to sprawling convention centers for corporate retreats, it seems there is a place for everyone.

The larger centers offer packages for corporate retreats, seminars, class reunions, family reunions, and even weddings. A wedding retreat? Whatever floats your boat. Accommodations can be very simple or ultra plush. It's just a chance to remove yourself from your ordinary life for a bit.

When a lot of us think of retreats, we think of religious retreats. Spiritual retreats for almost any religious belief are there for you. Even some monasteries and convents provide housing for those who want to reconnect with God. Some centers offer silent retreats. I'm not sure I could get into that. I love to talk, but many people find it soothing.

You can have a package with planned activities or one where you're on your own to do whatever strikes your fancy. What most retreats have in common is a serene, pastoral location. Even those near large metropolitan areas can make it seem that you are far away from daily life.

Writers and artists have long used retreats are a way to spur their creativity. There are retreats for musicians as well as for many crafts, or even drama.

Whether you go for a day or an extended stay, these centers can accommodate you. Large groups, couples, or individuals, the retreat center will welcome your business and make your stay a pleasant one. You can refresh, recharge, and go back to your normal life.
