Renew Your Spirit With A Spiritual Retreat

What is life about? Is there some point to your existence? I think we all contemplate those questions at one time or another. Maybe you have experienced a personal crisis or a health scare. Spiritual retreats may bring you back into balance.

Everyone thinks that spiritual retreats are all about religion. This is not necessarily so. If you are not particularly religious, there are many options to feed your soul than are not connected to any organized religion.

Whatever your faith, most churches sponsor some type of retreat. The Catholic church, for example may offer retreats in convents or monasteries. Wilderness retreats are popular. You get in touch with nature and your own feelings in a beautiful, wild setting.

Some religious retreats favor time spent in prayer and meditation often in total silence. There are also retreats that have a weekend each year for participants to come and work on the grounds and buildings. This is free. You can give back and get in touch with yourself.

Most of these retreats offer group or individual therapy of some kind, simple food, and simple accommodations. The point is that you have no distractions, no phones, limited access to the internet, and limited tv time.

There is no alcohol or tobacco permitted in most places. The emphasis is total mind and body health. Just bring some comfortable clothing and shoes, and maybe a good book or the Bible and get back in touch with yourself.

Whether you want a closer relationship with God, or just want to renew your spirit, there are places to help you achieve it.
